Buy Men's Rolex Watches at a Discount

Nothing says “SUCCESS” like owning and wearing a Rolex watch! Rolex has become a universal symbol of wealth, quality, and fashion. It’s an undeniable status symbol that’s recognized around the world. The Rolex icon, a gold crown, is synonymous with incomparable precision and craftsmanship.
History of Rolex watches
Rolex watches began with Hans Wilsdorf, shortly after the beginning of the 20th century. Most men at the time carried pocket watches, and the wristwatches that were in existence were usually of inferior quality. Young Hans decided, however, that wrist watches could be produced with tiny movements to make them accurate, and Swiss watch makers began experimenting with the movements within Wilsdorf’s wristwatches.
In 1908, Wilsdorf came up with the name “Rolex” and registered it as his trademark. He opened an office in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where he also registered the name Rolex for his company.
In 1910, success was achieved. That year, a Rolex watch was the first wristwatch ever to be awarded the Swiss Certificate of Precision. In 1914, another milestone was reached by Rolex, when a Rolex wristwatch was awarded a class A precision certificate. Until this great achievement by Rolex, only marine chronometers had met such strict precision requirements.
Rolex watches and World War II
During World War II, many British Royal Air Force pilots were replacing their inferior standard-issue wristwatches with Rolex watches. Whenever they were captured and taken into custody as prisoners of war, the expensive Rolex watches were taken by the captors.
Wilsford heard of this and offered to replace the Rolex watches, with payment not being due until the war was over. As a result, thousands of Rolex watches were ordered for British POWs, which provided a huge boost in the soldiers’ morale. American servicemen stationed in Europe during the war learned of this and carried the story home with them. This single incident is largely responsible for introducing Rolex to the United States.
Rolex watches and charities
Wilsford’s wife died in 1944, and after that, he established the Hans Wilsford Foundation, a charitable organization. Wilsford willed all his shares in Rolex to the foundation, ensuring that a portion of the profits made by Rolex would go to charities.
Rolex is still owned by a private trust, and shares in Rolex are not traded on any stock exchange in the world.
Rolex quality
Rolex has long been the leader in innovative wristwatches. Rolex watches are available with diamond inlay, in 18-karat gold, and with cases that are water resistant to 330 feet. Rolex was also the first to offer a wristwatch showing two time zones at once, along with the first to display an automatically changing day and date on the dial.

Aw, come on, Chris - don't ya wanna buy a couple??
I am so glad they give them away. Thank you for the history lesson. Something else I have learned. My poor braincells will be bursting soon. In all my years of schooling I never learned so much since I joined hub. I am serious.
I could probably buy a knock-off on the street for ten dollars. I won't, though, because brands don't matter to me. As for the quality, how good does a watch have to be? Oh, gosh, I'm off the track, forgetting, the Rolex is to impress everybody else. I can't imagine thinking like that.
Very nice. Need to have a lot of dosh though. What about fakes?
This was very useful and interesting Habee - I never knew the history of these watches and I had no idea that they cost so much. Congrats by the way on your score of 100 - 05/15/2010
HH, you mean the Rolex watches are a little out of your price range? lol
I agree, Sheila, but some people HAVE to have the best! I had a friend with a Rolex, and I think he loved it above all things - and maybe above all people.
Eth, one of my girlfriends has a fake Rolex. She calls it her "fauxlex"! lol
habee- great history here............ thanks for the info! And I join Veronica in wishing you a happy 100 .............. you deserve it!
Veronica, the history of Rolex watches was news to me, too. And as for the 100, it won't stay for long! lol
Many thanks, Kaie!
I can't do it. We just spent all our money redecorating!
I dreamed have one of this :).
Nice one Habee
Nice, I love watches, very classy. Peace :)
I buy Bob watches but I always buy on sale because he somehow forgets what he is doing and oops...got into the tub with it on....oops, scratched the face off it working outside - but they are very classy watches. I try and just be 'middle of the road' in all things these days - and Bob would shudder if I tried to 'adorn' him with too many baubles - or was that BOB-LES?
I didn't know they were around that long. Some of the watches cost almost as much as a car! Wow.
Great hub Habee. I enjoyed learning about the history of the Rolex watch. If only I could afford one. They really are nice.
Funny, Bpop! I can relate!
Andy, never give up on your dreams! lol
Katie, I'm really not into watches, but hubby is!
"Bob-les"...I love that, Audrey!
Granny, I thought the history of Rolex was fascinating!
Nancy, I don't have a Rolex watch, either!
Some great deals on men's Rolex watches!
Thanks, Elf!
