Headed to the beach this summer with your beach umbrella? We are! We’re taking the whole gang – grandparents, moms and dads, kids, and even the babies. You know how hot and brutal the sun can be on the beach. If you’re lucky enough to be on a sugar-white gulf beach, the sand itself won’t be hot, but the sun will still be scorching. That year, my daughter and her family were going with us on vacation, and we couldn’t leave such a small baby unprotected in the July sun. There’s also a beach umbrella with a sand anchor. Usually made of PVC, the anchor is threaded like a screw, so it “screws into” the sand to provide stability for the umbrella. Once the anchor stand is securely in the sand, you just insert the end of the sun umbrella's pole.

How about a beach chair with your own personal umbrella? The beach umbrella chair is a really cool invention. With this type, the umbrella is attached directly to the beach chair. These even come in kid-size beach chairs, which would be a great way to protect your little ones from the sun.

If you want even more shade, with the addition of some privacy, consider a beach shade shelter. The beach shade shelter is like a beach tent that’s perfect for the beach. A couple of adults or several kids can fit inside a standard beach tent, and it has windows to catch those cool sea breezes. Larger beach tents have lots of room inside, so you might want to go with a bigger size.
