Great Romantic Getaways: Pigeon Forge, with Videos
69Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, is located in the gorgeous Smoky Mountains. It’s a wonderful place for a romantic getaway any time of year because of its natural beauty and its superb lodging choices. In fact, several accommodations are specifically designed for romance!
What kinds of lodging choices are available? How about a private chalet or a cozy or luxurious cabin tucked away in the woods? Many of these are complete with heart-shaped tubs for two, perfect for a romantic bubble bath and a long, relaxing soak. After your bath, hop into a heart-shaped bed for some more romance and a good night’s sleep! Some cabins and chalets also have outdoor hot tubs where the two of you can enjoy the sun as it sinks over the mountain peaks and paints the sky with a spectrum of pastel colors. And since the mountain air is usually crisp and clear, the view of the stars can be truly spectacular. You may never want to leave the hot tub!
Many of the cabins and chalets in and near Pigeon Forge are also equipped with fireplaces. Imagine snuggling up in front of a crackling fire with that special person, enjoying a nice glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate on a chilly Valentine’s night. What could be more romantic than that?
If you prefer staying closer to all the action, choose a room at one of Pigeon Forge’s fine hotels, or rent a condo. You’ll be within walking distance of several attractions. There are also several bed-and-breakfast inns that provide cozy, well appointed rooms.
Once you’ve made the difficult decision as to where you’ll stay for your romantic getaway, ask about special deliveries to your cabin or room. These might include fresh flowers or great gift baskets waiting for you when you arrive. You can choose baskets with wines, gourmet coffees, erotic bubble baths, fresh fruits, and chocolates. Once you’ve settled in, order a massage. The masseuse will come to you for a romantic massage for two there in the privacy of your own cabin or chalet. I suggest having the massage in front of a fire for some added “heat.”
And the romance doesn’t stop there in the confines of your room or cabin. Take your lover on a romantic ride in a hot air balloon, where the two of you can share the amazing vistas of the green mountains, valleys, rivers, and streams from 1,500 feet in the air. The best times to go are at sunrise and at sunset, when the sky is at its most beautiful. If you plan ahead, you can even renew your vows while drifting gently through the clouds.
Another great opportunity for spending some private time together is to take the drive to Cades Cove, an old pioneer village nestled deep in the mountains. The drive itself is gorgeous, with plenty of opportunities for an intimate picnic next to a babbling brook. Even better, take a hike to a natural waterfall to share in nature’s splendor. Once you arrive at your destination, take a horseback ride through the valleys, hills, and meadows, or rent bicycles for a pedal around the historic settlement.
If you’re an active, outdoorsy couple, you can enjoy plenty of golf, rock climbing, hiking, and trout fishing in one of the clear streams or mountain lakes. In the summer months, tubing and whitewater rafting are popular. Or you might prefer something more relaxing like a leisurely drift in a canoe or a tour of a local winery.
After a day of fun, head back to your lodging and get dressed for dinner. Pigeon Forge has numerous dining venues, and many offer romantic meals by candlelight. After enjoying a satisfying meal, take in one of the shows that Pigeon Forge is famous for.
When the show is over, take a walk along the Little Pigeon River that runs through town. After your stroll in the moonlight or starlight, enjoy a dessert and coffee, or a nightcap at a charming cafe before returning to your love nest for some private time.
Pigeon Forge has all the makings of a great romantic getaway. It’s the perfect destination for an anniversary, Valentine’s Day, a honeymoon, or any time you want to spend quality time alone with your significant other. We did the cabin thing a few years ago at Thanksgiving...my daughter was barely two but she still remembers. The stars at night in the mountain of Georgia are spectacular. I have pictures in some of my hubs from that trip.
Thanks for reminding me of those memories! Tammy
I can personally recommend the Roaring River Motor Trail, as one of the highlights of that area!

Pigeon forge and Gatlinburg, TN is my favorite place to visit! I've been going there for years and it never gets old! I've even gone by myself just to 'get away'. It is so beautiful and there's so much to do. Awesome Hub!
Thank you for sharing this, habee. Your descriptions as always of travel destinations sound like they came right out of a brochure! That waterfall looks spectacular.
This is near and dear to my heart I took my babies there (who are all grown up now) for Christmas when my son was just two. They both still agree that, that was the best christmas that they have ever had. I have been to the smoky's several times and I must say that the only real way to enjoy them is to get to know the people there(especially the mountain people). They are what makes the mountains beautiful, once I went there on my motorcycle, I got lost and wound up in the middle of no where in those mountains and a kind hearted farmer envited me to spend the night in his modest home. We slept on the porch lol and it was the one of the best times of my life. thanks for reminding me.
Pigeon Forge is lovely. My sister has a rental cabin there and I've spent some time there every few years. Enjoyed your hub!
I have wanted to have a weekend with my wife at one of those little cabins for a long time. Our circumstances doesn't allow for get a way times right now but maybe soon! I have never been in one of those hot tubs and would love to get in one and boil with my sweetie!
