Holle's Hottest Guys
77I’ve read several forum posts here about which male celebrities are cited as being the hottest, the sexiest, or the best looking. I’ve noticed that the same names keep popping up. Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp are frequent mentions, along with some younger guys that I’ve never even heard of. All this got me to thinking about which male celebs I think are the sexiest or the most attractive, so I comprised a list.
This isn't your typical single hot guys article. You’ll notice that Brad and Johnny are missing, but another popular icon of male beauty is present: Hugh Jackman. Other than Hugh, you probably won’t agree with many of my choices, unless maybe you’re over 50, like I am. I’m 51. Even so, most of you will be surprised at a couple of my choices, I’m sure. Sometimes I have a rather strange taste in men. But hey – it’s all in the eye of the beholder, right?
I don't know if any of these would classify as single hot guys or not. Most of them are probably married. Aren't most of the good ones already taken?
Cowboys are really hot guys!
I went through a "cowboy phase" when I was a kid. Maybe it was partly due to my love for horses. Actually, I don't think I ever quite outgrew this phase! I still think cowboys are really hot guys. There's just something about a tough-looking guy in cowboy boots, tight jeans, and a cowboy hat that makes my heart go pitter-patter. And if he's on a horse...WOW!
James Arness
James Arness was the star of TV's Gunsmoke. I guess he was my first heart throb. I had my bedroom plasterd with pics of him, and I often wrote letters to him. I never missed an episode of Gunsmoke!
Arness was six-foot-six. Did you ever notice his limp? One of his legs was shorter than the other because of a war wound he suffered in World War II. Good ol' Marshal Dillon was also an avid surfer!
Peter Breck
Breck was one of the Barkley Brothers in TV's Big Valley. While all my friends had a crush on Heath, my heart belonged to Nick. Nick was the rough-and-tumble middle brother - tough on the outside but with a heart of gold.
Peter Breck is usually cited as the best TV cowboy because of his horsemanship abilities and his fast draw. Breck was tough in real life, too. He did all the stunts on the show himself!
Dale Robertson
Dale Robertson was the star of Iron Horse, a western set around the railroad. I don't remember his character's name, but I do remember the twinkle in Dale's eyes!
Robert Duvall
I don't find Robert Duvall sexy in all his movies, but I loved him in Lonesome Dove as craggy old Augustus McRae. He's not very pretty, is he? I know, but there's just something about him in that role that gets to me. I've read all the Lonesome Dove books, and we have the movey on DVD. Every couple of months, I drag it out and watch it...again.
The others
I don't limit my interest to cowboys. I'm an ecclectic (does that have 4 C's or just 3?) kind of gal, after all! After reaching my early twenties, I expanded my horizons, so to speak, and began to think of other types as really hot guys.
Kevin Spacey
Spacey isn't what most women would think of as handsome, and I agree, for the most part. But in his role as Jim Williams in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, I thought he was extremely sexy! Maybe it was his affected Southern drawl. Maybe it was the way he dresed. I dunno, but I watch this wonderful movie over and over, partly because of Spacey, and partly because it was filmed in Savannah, one of my favorite places.
Liam Neeson
Again, this guy isn't classically handsome, but I find him very attractive, especially in his role as Robert McGregor in Rob Roy. He's a big man, and he looks extremely sexy in a kilt! I also love his accent.
Bill Engvall
Engvall is one of Jeff Foxworthy's cohorts in the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. I love his sense of humor and his eyes. Also, he seems like a genuinely nice guy. And look at his chest hair peaking out of his shirt...
Howard Keel
Howard Keel starred in lots of movies - mainly musicals. He had an amazing voice! I especially liked him in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Show Boat. Keel aged well, too. Is he still alive?
Harvey Keitel
Keitel is another actor who isn't really good looking. In The Piano, however, he's super sexy! We get to see him nude, for one thing. I probably like him so much in this role because his short stocky body much reminds me of how my husband looked a few years ago. If you haven't seen this film, watch it! It's just about the most erotic movie I've ever seen. Holly Hunter is great in her role, too.
Dan Fogelberg
I'm a huge fan of Fogelberg's music. He has a beautiful voice, and his lyrics are amazing. He had to have been a thoughtful and sensitive guy to have written such words. Sadly, Dan is no longer with us.
Clark Gable
Okay, it's not actually Clark Gable that I find so captivating - It's his role as Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. It's a family thing. All the women in my family are in love with Rhett. In fact, my grandmother slept with a picture of him on her bedside table every night for decades!
Hugh Jackman
Is this guy perfect, or what?? Just look at that big hairy chest! Hugh is tall, muscular, and handsome, with a great accent. He can also sing and dance, and he's funny and does a lot of charity work. In addition, he loves kids and animals! What's not to love?
Andy Griffith
As with some of my other picks, it's not Andy Griffith I find so enticing - it's his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor. I've always thought Andy would be the perfect husband. He's brave, thoughtful, smart, and has a good sense of humor. I also find him very sexy!
Karl Urban
Karl Urban played Eomer in The Lord of the Rings movies. He was one of the horsemen. While everybody else was going gaga over Aragorn, I found Eomer to be much sexier. It might be because he looks a lot like my first boyfriend. Or maybe it's because of his horse-riding skills. Probably a bit of both!
Strange choice - Gene Levy
I know what you're thinking! My friends all tease me about my crush on Gene Levy. Remember him? He was the dad on American Pie and Queen Latifah's boyfriend in Bringing Down the House. He was also in Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
I have no idea why I find him so sexy! I don't think he's good looking, but I think he's sexy. I told you my tastes are sometimes strange!
Johnny Abee
Huh? Who's that? That, my friends, is my husband! And yes, after all these years I still find him incredibly sexy. Johnny is a great person - warm, sensitive, smart, and witty. He has a tough exterior and can have quite a nasty temper, but he can also be incredibly soft hearted. Johnny is hard working and is a talented artist, too. Sorry, ladies, he's taken!
Now the younger one there is sure to grow up and be included in someones's "single hot guys" article somewhere. He's already a "playa," and he's only seven! That's my oldest grandchild, Jonathan. This pic is from Christmas morning at my daughter's house.
You can't pick Hugh!
Which guy would you pick to be stranded on an island with, if they were all still alive?

No wonder you can't sleep tonight! LOL The only one that surprised me was Harvey Keitel. Love the picture of hubby and grandson. xox
Seems to me that your hubby would be at the top of your list, instead of the bottom.
Did you see the one with my wild hair on facebook? LOL Don't put me up there, I will not fill that one for you darlin'. but thanks *blush*
What a fun and extremely enjoyable hub to start my Sunday morning. Thanks habee!
I'm not sure which guy I woud want to be stranded on an island with, but you have an interesting list. I liked the family pic at the end, that was a nice touch.
Mike
Holle, you take the cowboys, I always liked the Injuns! But Bill Engvall can eat crackers in my bedroom anytime.
Memories, memories! I'm older than you are, but still finding some young guys worth looking at. In fact, I watch Survivor because I like Jeff Probst!
Gotta go with Mr. Griffiths, Holle, though Robert Duvall's awful cute, too! :)
PS: Why can't I pick Hugh, too?
An enjoyable read, Holle (now I know where habee comes from!) You're right, a few of these I do not know (I'm 39), but several I do. I love Kevin Spacey (especially his acting) and Liam Neeson. I hate to admit it, but I'm a George Clooney fan, like several other millions!
My all-time favorite, though, is Tommy Lee Jones - he's not the greatest looking guy, but there's something totally hot and sexy about him that I just love!
Fun hub!
why you have to make me choose lol granted there are only like 3 here on this list that i find hot but even still why choose lol ... great hub
I remember Dale Robertson in "Tales of Wells Fargo."
You've known her longer than I, so I trust your judgment. Well, most of my starring roles aren't PG anyway!
I do have a yen for Brad(sighs)
I know I am old as I had heard of these dudes :( Oh except your hubby
Habee, You picked some real winners. Good hub.
Great hub, I love it! Hugh Jackman is awesome. My fave hot guys all come from the soaps:
1. "Ethan" - General Hospital
2. "Sonny" - General Hospital
3. "Luke" - General Hospital
4. "Jesse" - All My Children
5 "Victor" - Young & The Restless
A couple are wrestlers:
6. John Cena
7. Triple H
8. Shawn Michaels
And, newscasters:
9. Chris Cuomo - Good Morning America
10. Sam Champion - Good Morning America
It feels strange to find someone that likes Peter Breck besides me. I bought the complete series of Big Valley so I could watch him again. But Patrick Duffy is also really interesting.
Online. I forgot the name of the company I bought from, but I had problems with their dvd's and had to reorder. Also, the show are not in order.
TVDVDParadise.com sells them and other westerns. They say the shows are in order. And the price is 15.00 less than I paid.
Enjoy!!!
Nice selection of guys. I enjoyed watching Gunsmoke as a kid too, and I like Dan Fogelberg's singing. Adam on Bonanza was one of my favorites as a kid.
Do you remember Chuck Connors, The Rifleman? I always loved the opening of that show where he swaggered out with that Winchester. He was a hot cowboy!
Oooh yes, Pernell Roberts from Bonanza. I LOVED his dreamy eyes. I was sad when I heard that he died.
My vote-most definitely Dan Fogelberg, but sadly, he is no longer with us! Therfore my next choice would be actor Joe Flanigan from TV series Satargate Atlantis!! These 2 men represent my ideal man!!
Good choice, Miss Habee. I'm impressed. I would have thrown Chuck Connors into that list.
I was a little sad when I didn't see Pernell Roberts on here. I'm only 19 and have a major crush on him!
I'm with you on Augustus McCrea. I have seen Lonesome Dove over and over because of Duvall. What a smile and what a wit. I cry cry cry every time. Thanks for this post. I would like to add Jack Kelly from the old tv series Maverick. Everyone loved Brett but Bart had my heart.

Hello, hello, 2 years ago
It tickled me for years. The ordinary cowboy, not the Hollywood ones, do look very handsome, manly and outstanding with their cowboy hat on but when they take them off most of them look like any other guy. Its that hat and I am sure they know it since men are so modest about their appearances. Thanks, Holle, for a lovely hub and pictures. Just keep your eyes on Johnny.
