I’ve already started planning for Christmas. In fact, I’ve already purchased a few Christmas gifts. I have eight grandkids to buy for, so I have to start early! This is especially important if one or more of the grands want some really hot kids toys or toddler toys for Christmas that might sell out long before Christmas Day ever arrives.

My grandchildren range in age from three months to seven years, and I always have a blast shopping for them. I do most of my Christmas shopping online, for several reasons. First of all, my health conditions won’t allow me to do a lot of walking. So malls are pretty much out of the question. For another reason, I just find online shopping much more convenient. I don’t have to worry about fighting crowds, driving to a store, or finding a parking place. 99% of the time, I can find exactly what I want online, and it’s easy to compare prices and features, too.

One year my oldest grandson wanted a Grave Digger battery powered ride on toy. He talked about it all the time. Walmart, Kmart, and the toy store in our town were all sold out of these electric ride on toys. His mom and I began searching stores within a 50-mile radius of our hometown, to no avail. In December of that year, we spent a few days in the North Georgia mountains, so we decided that surely we could find the ride on toy at some Walmart or Kmart between South Georgia and the northern part of the state. We were wrong! Every store we visited was sold out of these powered ride on toys!

We were so worried that we’d have a sad little boy on Christmas morning. My daughter started phoning every Walmart and toy store in the state! We finally lucked up. A Walmart just 50 miles away got in one of these ride on toys the week before Christmas. She made a beeline to the store and purchased the Grave Digger.

The other grandsons have also had ride on toys, including jeeps, big trucks, and a really cute fire truck. The girls haven’t been left out with kids ride on toys, either. They both went through the powered ride on toys phase. We bought them pink Barbie jeeps, and they still ride them!

Maybe it will help him burn off some of that energy he has if he has to power it himself.
