Spring Break at Daytona

With miles and miles of beach – 23 in all - you’ll find a lot of the action there. The stretches of shore are so wide that driving on the beach is allowed. Whether walking or driving, or just “chillin’, the beach is always alive with Spring Breakers. If you prefer a beach with no cars, no prob. 11 miles of beach are closed to vehicles.

Daytona Beach hosts lots of special activities throughout the Break. Live bands perform at Ocean Deck. Many of the clubs offer free admission, and there are lots of giveaways, including free beer, free tee shirts, and free CDs.

Hotels that line the beach host some great outdoor parties, with DJs, dancing, and kegs by the pool. You’ll also find fun competitions like bikini contests and best tan contests.

Daytime Activities

During the day, you can spend time on the beach playing volleyball or Frisbee, boogey boarding, jet skiing, swimming, surf fishing, and surfing. Don’t know how to surf? Take a quick lesson at one Daytona’s surf schools. Take a ride on a banana boat, a speed boat, or an airboat. Take a cruise around the area on a mini-cruise ship, or rent a kayak or canoe for some quiet time. For some amazing views, try parasailing over the ocean.

Daytona has several water parks that provide thrill rides, water slides, fountains, wave pools, and lazy rivers. Other parks offer go-carts, miniature golf, laser tag, rock climbing, bowling, and arcades. You can also be shot from a giant slingshot, take in a movie, experience a planetarium show, or watch the greyhounds run.

Shopping has always been a biggie in Daytona. Malls, shopping centers, factory outlets, and specialty shops abound in the area. Downtown Daytona features trendy clothing boutiques, gourmet shops, unique gift items, and all sorts of beach stuff.

Nighttime Activities

Daytona is famous for its nightlife! Some of the most popular spots for Spring Breakers:

Ocean Deck: It’s right on the beach and hosts numerous live concerts during Spring Break. Grab a bite to eat, win free prizes, and join the reggae party on the sand.

Razzles: This hot electric nightclub is just a block from the beach and has over 15,000 square feet of partying. With videos, lights, VIP lounges, 11 bars, pool tables, wild contests, and a pulsating dance floor, this is the largest nightclub in Daytona.

Aqua Lounge: Located on Grandview Avenue, Aqua has great music, super dancing, and a totally HOT crowd during the Break. At Shamrock Station, which is part of Aqua, live bands perform every night during Spring Break.

Oyster Pub: This is a great sports bar located in the middle of party central. Great seafood, beer specials, and 30 TV screens make this a favorite hangout with Breakers.

600 North: This place looks unimpressive on the outside, but don’t be fooled. Inside, it’s huge! The atmosphere is wild and crazy, with Coyote Ugly dancing on the bar. This would be a good place to go early. Drinks are cheap at happy hour during Spring Break, but afterwards, they’re rather pricey.

Dirty Harry’s: This bar is on Main Street and is basically a biker bar. During Spring Break, however, the place is taken over by partying college students. Fun and casual!

One of the great things about partying at Daytona Beach during Spring Break is the Free Party Bus! Just hop on to get to and from your destination. No DD required!

Lodging

You’ll have lots of choices in accommodations. Stay in a oceanfront condo, a private beach home, a seaside cottage, a resort, a hotel, or a motel. There’s even a campground nearby if you really want to save some dough.

Numerous lodgings welcome Spring Breakers. One is Makai Lodge. It’s on the beach and has a large pool, a Jacuzzi, and a fridge in every room. A room at this motel is $53 a day during the Break.

The Flamingo Inn is very popular with Breakers. In fact, during Spring Break, only students are allowed! It’s right on the beach, too.

Red Carpet Inn is on the beach and has a pool. Get a room here with a microwave, a fridge, and a kitchenette to save money on eating.

Hawaiian Inn an oceanfront resort with a huge pool deck that has a South Seas pool bar and grill. They feature live entertainment every day. Also, each room has its own kitchen and private balcony.
